Busy Times

School is out but until recently the weather hasn't been cooperative. The in-laws have come and gone, leaving a trail of Cars 2 behind them. Reg is finally keeping down food after two days of vomity virus. Sad that a 99.5 fever doesn't even make me blink; does that mean I've finally settled into this mommy thing or that I'm immune to anything less than massive head wounds?

We've been going to the farmer's market and now that one has opened in Woodstock we can walk there. The best part: no feeding the downtown parking meters. The worst part (for Ted): no feeding the meters. That boy likes his meters. Is that a boy thing or a Ted thing (or a Monk thing?) I love this time of year - all the strawberries we can eat. I even made freezer jam today.

I've been reading a lot of blogs, mostly cooking and scrapbooking. I can't remember the last time I picked up a book, despite the pile right next to me, borrowed from the library a month ago. I have all the Independence Day decorations up but have yet to paint out the brachiosaurus on my living room wall. Really need to get me some chalkboard paint. Maybe tomorrow.

I leave for Delaware in two weeks! Five whole days without (my) children. There will be children, but they will not be my problem - yay! Five days of girl time, movies, spas, crab cakes, shopping and cuddling a 3 mo. old baby. Of course, it also means two days of traveling cross-country and a stay in the sweltering humidity of the mid-Atlantic. I fully expect the weather to kill me. Or at the least turn me into a limp, sweaty pile of whininess. Must remember to pack shorts.

Time to shuffle the monkeys off to bed. G'nite!
